Cardio Intelligence
Cardio Intelligence is a Tokyo-based healthtech startup building AI software for long-duration ECG analysis, founded in October 2019 by practicing cardiologist Yuichi Tamura and engineer Tomohiro Takada after they began researching AI-based arrhythmia analysis together in 2016. Its flagship product, the SmartRobin AI series, is a program medical device (SaMD) that uses deep learning to automatically analyze up to 24 hours of ECG waveform data uploaded to the cloud, detecting atrial fibrillation and color-coding it against normal sinus rhythm so non-specialist physicians can identify it at a glance, cutting per-case review time from over 30 minutes to roughly 3 minutes. Launched in February 2022, SmartRobin AI was in use at over 150 medical institutions as of November 2025. The mission of the company is to eliminate the gap in access to heart disease diagnosis, and it has also developed SmartPAFin, a paroxysmal atrial fibrillation sign-detection SaMD that received Japanese regulatory approval in December 2024. Funding history includes a seed round, a two-part Series A (¥430M first close, ¥200M final close), and a two-part Series B: a November 2025 first close led by Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories with Tokai Tokyo Investment and Iwagin Business Growth Capital, followed by a March 2026 second close from Orthomos Investment.
