Thoma Bravo is the world's largest software-focused private equity investment firm, with more than $183 billion in assets under management as of 2026. Successor to Golder Thoma & Co. (founded 1980) and later Golder Thoma Cressey Rauner, the firm was renamed Thoma Bravo in 2008 under Carl Thoma and Orlando Bravo. Over more than 40 years the firm has acquired or invested in approximately 590 software and technology companies representing roughly $320 billion of aggregate enterprise value, pioneering a buy-and-build consolidation strategy focused on application software, infrastructure and cybersecurity software, and technology-enabled business services.
