Wildgrain
Wildgrain is a Somerville, Massachusetts-based bake-from-frozen subscription company delivering sourdough breads, pastries, fresh pasta, and pizza sourced from a network of more than 45 small American bakeries, requiring no thawing and baking in about 25 minutes. Founded in January 2020 by husband-and-wife duo Johanna Hartzheim, who developed the recipes and baking process, and Ismail Salhi, CEO, who leads the business and logistics side, after the couple missed the artisanal breads of Paris; the pair had previously co-founded music hardware company Qleek. Wildgrain grew to more than 150,000 monthly members and shipped about 1.2 million boxes in 2025, generating over 30 million dollars in revenue, donating two meals to food security nonprofits with every order, and opening its first physical bakehouse location in Somerville in March 2026. The company has raised roughly 10.7 million dollars, including a 750,000 dollar seed round from Bolt, the predecessor to Baukunst, which also invested directly as Baukunst.
