Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group
Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is a New Orleans-based daytime dining company operating the Ruby Slipper Cafe and Ruby Sunshine brands, serving New Orleans-style breakfast, brunch, lunch, and cocktails. Founded by Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, transforming a blighted Mid-City corner store into a community-rebuilding restaurant, the group has since expanded to Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and partners with hospitality workforce nonprofit Cafe Reconcile. Ruby Slipper won Nations Restaurant News 2025 Breakfast Showdown and ranked number two nationally in Newsweeks 2025 Readers Choice Awards for breakfast chains. The company received private equity backing from Bregal Partners alongside Golub Capital, and Elizabeth McGee, an Applebees veteran who joined as COO, was promoted to CEO in late 2025.
