Yasushi Tokushima

Born in 1978, Yasushi Tokushima studied product design at Tama Art University and earned a master's degree at Keio University's Graduate School of Media and Governance. He spent 1997 to 2004 as a founding member of a liquid-crystal-component hardware venture, working on LSI development with Silicon Valley partners, and later worked at a major medical device maker designing GUIs and enclosures for ECG machines and defibrillators. From 2012 to 2014 he served in the Philippines as a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer attached to the countrys Department of Trade and Industry, where he encountered diabetic amputees unable to afford prosthetic legs. He founded Instalimb in March 2017 to build a low-cost, digitally manufactured alternative.
