Tyson Butterfield is a founding member of the Hop Aero engineering team, based in Orange, California, alongside the company's headquarters. He holds a BS in Applied Computational Mathematics from Brigham Young University and was a member of BYU Rocketry, the university's student-run high-power rocketry organization. CEO Matija Milenovic has publicly credited him for hand-carrying a long-lead hardware component from California to the team's test site in Oklahoma on short notice to keep a test campaign on schedule, calling him the company's honorary human point-to-point rocket.
