Mike Herro co-founded LifeGem in 2001 alongside his brother Greg Herro and brothers Dean and Russell (Rusty) VandenBiesen, and serves as the company's chief financial officer. He has helped steer LifeGem's finances through its expansion from a single Elk Grove Village, Illinois storefront into an international operation with LifeGem Europe, and through periods such as the 2008 to 2009 recession, when the company pivoted its funeral-home partnership strategy and signed roughly 300 new funeral-home partners in two months by repositioning the LifeGem diamond as a permanent memorial item.
