Josh Silverman is Executive Chair of Etsy, Inc., having served as President and CEO from May 2017 until December 2025, when he handed leadership to Kruti Patel Goyal as part of a planned succession. During his 8.5 years as CEO, Etsy grew shoppers more than threefold, gross merchandise sales fourfold, and revenue nearly eightfold, while its share price appreciated more than sevenfold. Before Etsy, Silverman served as President of Consumer Products and Services at American Express, CEO of Skype (where he oversaw growth past 300 million users), and CEO of Shopping.com, an eBay company, after holding various executive roles at eBay. He co-founded Evite, Inc. and served as its CEO from 1998 until its 2001 sale. Silverman holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Brown University and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and also serves on the boards of Instacart and Shake Shack.
