Jen Keane is Co-Founder and CEO of Modern Synthesis. A materials designer trained at Cornell in fiber science and apparel design, she worked as a material designer and developer at Nike and Adidas before pursuing an MA in Material Futures at Central Saint Martins in London, where she first grew a shoe upper from bacterial nanocellulose and one continuous yarn. That project, and her collaboration with bioengineer co-founder Ben Reeve, became the foundation for Modern Synthesis. She leads the company's industry strategy, brand partnerships, and commercial direction, including its collaboration with Danish fashion brand GANNI on the Bou Bag.
