Greg Herro

Co-Founder and CEO, LifeGem

Elk Grove Village, United States

Greg Herro co-founded LifeGem in 2001 alongside his brother Mike Herro and brothers Dean and Russell (Rusty) VandenBiesen, after the group spent years discussing mortality and memorialization before landing on the idea of synthesizing diamonds from a deceased person's carbon. As CEO, Herro has been the company's primary public face since it introduced the first LifeGem diamond in 2002, appearing on national television including Fox News and NPR to explain the patented process and field skepticism about the science behind it. Under his leadership LifeGem expanded into LifeGem Europe and built out novelty projects such as a diamond made from a lock of Beethoven's hair, auctioned for charity, and diamonds synthesized from Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning.
