Denis Despres was appointed Boart Longyear's Chief Operating Officer in September 2016 and Chief Executive Officer, Drilling Services in October 2023. He began his career with Boart Longyear in 1981, holding progressively senior roles in the company's Drilling Services and Products divisions over 26 years, including Senior VP, Drilling Services. After leaving Boart Longyear in 2007 he founded his own drilling business, later acquired by Major Drilling, where he served as Chief Operating Officer before rejoining Boart Longyear. He holds a diploma in mechanical engineering technology from Algonquin College, a Bachelor of Engineering from Lakehead University, and an MBA.
