International Holding Company (IHC) is an Abu Dhabi-listed conglomerate that started in 1998 as Asmak, a fisheries company, before being restructured into a diversified investment holding company chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE National Security Adviser and Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Majority-owned by the ruling family's Royal Group at roughly 61 percent, IHC controls more than 1,300 subsidiaries and 86 joint ventures and associates across over 41 countries, spanning real estate and construction, agriculture and fisheries, food and beverages, healthcare, financial services, utilities, renewable energy, manufacturing, and technology. Its workforce grew from about 40 employees in 2019 to roughly 125,000 by mid-2023, and its market capitalization exceeded 900 billion AED (about $240 billion) by 2025, making it one of the most valuable listed companies in the Middle East. IHC has drawn scrutiny from financial publications over the pace and transparency of that valuation growth given the stock's limited public float.
