Educational Testing Service acquired Prometric from The Thomson Corporation for approximately $435 million, structured as $310 million in cash plus a $125 million promissory note due in 2014. The deal closed in October 2007 and made Prometric a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit ETS.
