AkzoNobel N.V. acquired Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) for approximately £8 billion ($16.2 billion) in cash, in a deal that closed in January 2008. The acquisition brought ICI's Glidden Coatings & Resins business, including the Macco Adhesives/Liquid Nails brand, under AkzoNobel ownership as part of its North American Decorative Paints business.
