Oratomic

Oratomic is a neutral-atom quantum computing startup building toward a utility-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer by the end of the decade. The company traps individual atoms with laser-based optical tweezers to serve as qubits, which can be physically rearranged during computation to enable more flexible qubit connections and efficient error correction than fixed superconducting architectures. Oratomic launched from stealth on March 31, 2026 alongside research conducted with Caltech showing that a cryptographically relevant, fault-tolerant quantum computer may require as few as 10,000 to 20,000 physical qubits, a roughly 100-fold reduction from earlier estimates of a million or more. Oratomic works in close collaboration with Caltechs Advanced Quantum Computing Mission.
