Novonesis is a Danish biosolutions company formed in January 2024 through the merger of Novozymes, founded in 2000, and Chr. Hansen, founded in 1874. Headquartered in Bagsvaerd, Denmark and listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen under ticker NSIS B, the company employs more than 11,000 people across over 30 research and application centers and 23 manufacturing sites worldwide, with expertise spanning more than 30 industries including food and beverages, household care, bioenergy, agriculture and feed, and human health. It holds close to a 50 percent global market share in industrial enzymes and microbial solutions. Novonesis is majority controlled by Novo Holdings, the holding company of the Novo Nordisk Foundation, which also controls Novo Nordisk. Alongside its core operating business, Novonesis makes selective strategic investments in biosolutions startups, including a July 2026 minority investment and exclusive manufacturing partnership with Singapore's TurtleTree to scale precision fermented lactoferrin for early life nutrition.
